Warrensburg Area Information
Warrensburg is at the junction of
State Highway 13 & U.S. Highway 50 in West Central Missouri
and only 16 miles south of Interstate Highway 70. Amtrak stops at
the downtown depot in Warrensburg. Skyhaven Airport, a public-use
airport operated by Central Missouri State University, is just
three miles west of the city. Skyhaven features a hard-surfaced,
lighted, 4,200 foot runway. Warrensburg is only 50 miles from
Kansas City, 4 hours from St. Louis, 90 miles from Jefferson
City, the State Capitol, 150 miles from Branson, and just two
hours from Lake of the Ozarks.
Warrensburg R-VI School District
Warrensburg has an excellent school
system which offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of
its students.
Elementary Program
The elementary program focuses on
development of fundamental skills-reading, writing, arithmetic.
Elementary students also receive an introduction to the arts and
wellness as they work with certified instructors in music, art,
and physical education. Highlights of the elementary program
include a whole language approach to reading, a gifted student
program, a library skills program , & hands-on instruction in
science and math. Word processing and keyboarding are introduced
at the fourth grade level. Elementary schools are organized by
grade level attendance centers. Each school has an active PTA.
Middle School
The Warrensburg Middle School
offers a transition program for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade
students from a self-contained elementary school environment into
a fully departmentalized high school program. Special features of
the Middle School include interactive video equipment, foreign
language classes, vocal & instrumental music, computer
instruction with two computer labs, interscholastic &
intramural sports, and programs for gifted students.
High School
The Warrensburg High School
operates on a traditional seven period schedule. Students have
the opportunity to take honors classes in the areas of English,
Social Studies, Science, and Math and dual credit classes from
Central Missouri State University and University of
Missouri-Kansas City. Special features of the High School include
greenhouse and horticulture classes, two computer labs, a
darkroom, and theater and foreign language labs.
Technical School
The Warrensburg Area
Vocational-Technical School allows students to develop
entry-level skills in the areas of Computer Programming, Auto
Mechanics, Auto Body, Building Trades, Office Technology, Health
Occupations, Accounting, Agricultural Education, and Marketing
Education. Counseling and job placement services are also
offered.

University of Central Missouri
Warrensburg is extremely fortunate
to have a quality post-secondary educational facility within the
city. University of Central Missouri has been providing
quality education for over 125 years. UCM was founded in 1871
as a regional normal school for teacher preparation and has grown
into a comprehensive university offering more than 150 areas of
study at the undergraduate level.
The University's 1,050 acre campus includes the 300 acre Pertle
Springs biological research area and recreational park (which
features an 18 hole golf course and pool), Skyhaven Airport,
Missouri Safety Center, Public Broadcasting Stations, Center for
Technology and Small Business Development, University Farm,
Multipurpose Building, University Union , and the main campus
with its instructional buildings.
University of Central Missouri is accredited by the North
Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition,
programs in art, chemistry, music, speech pathology and audilogy, nursing, home economics, social work, safety
management, drafting technology, construction science, industrial
science, and teacher education are all accredited by national
accreditation organizations.

Whiteman Air Force Base
Located just 9 miles east of
Warrensburg is Whiteman Air Force Base, home of the B-2 Stealth
bomber.

host wing and is comprised of four groups providing
operational support for the B-2, including the
operations, logistics, medical and support groups. |

The 442nd Fighter Wing is
an associate wing. The 442nd Fighter Wing relocated to
Whiteman in June, 1994 when Richards-Gebaur AFB in Kansas
City closed. The Air Force Reserve wing supports the
operations and activity of the A-10 Warthog aircraft. |
The Missouri Army National Guard
also calls Whiteman home. With UH-1 Huey and HA-1 Cobra aircraft,
the Guard provides helicopter support when needed.
Todays Air Force is seeing rapid changes with force reduction and
mission realignment, however, Whiteman is expected to maintain
steady growth and is positioned to be a showcase of the modern
Air Force.

Western Missouri Medical Center
Western Missouri Medical Center,
located at 403 Burkarth Road, is a fully accredited acute care
facility. The center is a regional acute care general hospital
with a Skilled Nursing Facility and many outpatient services.
Western Missouri Medical Center strives to provide quality,
comprehensive health care including emergency care, ambulatory
care, maternity care, outpatient services, and health education.
Physicians specializing in allergy,
anesthesiology, family practice, general surgery, internal
medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology,
ophthalmology, orthopedics, pathology, pediatrics, podiatry,
pulmonology, radiology, and urology are all on staff at Western
Missouri Medical Center.

Licenses:
City residents must purchase and
display city stickers on all vehicles. Licensing fees range from
$2.50 to $9.50.
All dogs six months or older must have a current rabies
certificate and a dog license. License fees range form $3.50 to
$5.50.
All businesses operating with the city limits of Warrensburg are
required to obtain a city license. The fee ranges from $20.50 to
$100.50.
